Powers & Responsibilities of the Commissioner

The Commissioner undertakes the management and the internal organization of the Financial Commissioner (Ombudsman), the complaints handling against financial enterprises (banks, credit acquisition companies, investment companies, insurance companies, etc.) and the appointment of a mediator to facilitate the restructuring of credit facilities.

The commissioner also has the power to:

  • Maintain and publish a Special Register of Mediators.
  • Implement the decisions of the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare, submit and publish reports.
  • Prepare and issue instructions.
  • Cooperates with the competent bodies of other member states and with the competent supervisory authorities of the Republic in matters of its competence.
  • Publish newsletters to inform consumers.
